I want to visit an En location so badly, but am worried because I unfortunately cannot speak Japanese. Do you think this would be a hard thing to navigate using just a translator app (like Google Translate)? Or do you think I might be turned away?

Thank you for your question, and I’m sorry for the late reply!

When I visited, they actually had English explanations available, and they also told me they’ve welcomed non-Japanese-speaking guests before. From what I experienced, they were very kind and open, so I don’t think you would be turned away at all. I hope you get the chance to go — it’s a very special experience!

Thanks for sharing; that sounds so cool. I regularly use a beach sauna here in the UK - so this idea of heating from within is fascinating to me.

Thank you so much for your comment! And yes, I feel like beach saunas share something similar with mokuyoku as well, although the warmth in mokuyoku is gentler than sand. It felt so good that it’s honestly hard to explain! I hope you’ll get a chance to try it and enjoy it too when you visit Japan someday!

https://www.youtube.com/@Medcram Mostly does recertification training, but it has a number of videos where he links to and discusses studies, including double blind studies that go over the importance of heat, sunlight, and cold helping treat illness and promoting better health. Based on your career path they may be useful to reference when discussing treatment with patients and on here.

Thank you for the information! I actually used to watch his YouTube videos during medical school, but I didn’t realize he also discusses studies in depth.
